#QUOTE

“Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.” ― Socrates

Traditional education make you feel as if you're filling a vessel, and as you continue to grow, you realize you're just beginning to ignite the fire. The one risk you must avoid is letting the flame die out by starving it of oxygen.

Keep feeding your curiosity and knowledge will follow naturally.

#READING

A 2x2 of stupidity.

The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity

//carlocipolla

An amazing article by Carlo Cipolla, a professor of economic history at Berkeley.

  • Law 1: Always and inevitably everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation.

  • Law 2: The probability that a certain person be stupid is independent of any other characteristic of that person.

  • Law 3. A stupid person is a person who causes losses to another person or to a group of persons while himself deriving no gain and even possibly incurring losses.

  • Law 4: Non-stupid people always underestimate the damaging power of stupid individuals. In particular non-stupid people constantly forget that at all times and places and under any circumstances to deal and/or associate with stupid people always turns out to be a costly mistake.

  • Law 5: A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person.

The article immediately drew corollaries to the 2006 movie, Idiocracy, an especially related to law #1. Be wary of the stupid, they are incredibly dangerous to society.

Write a Note to Your Spouse Every Day

Phenomenal idea. Builds trust; less aggravations. Clear your mind and synthesize. Here's the outline:

  • Gratitude

  • What I’m working on today (my goals)

  • What I'm excited about

  • What's Bothering me

  • Ideas in my head

  • Transactional stuff (i.e. things to get done)

  • Questions (did we book that thing?)

  • Gratitude

#LEARNING

‘Synthetic’ Embryo With Brain and Beating Heart Grown From Stem Cells

//neurosciencenews

This is pretty wild. I've been following the promise of stem cells grown for a while (12+ years) due to its regenerative and pliable nature, but this is some of the most impressive news I've seen in a while.

I hope this becomes an inflection point for researchers to continue to make further breakthroughs in significantly less time.

And my favorite comment 🤣:

just another step forward for Feminism to eliminate the need for men!

Follow up from the last podcast recommendation, but shorter (only 3 hours long!). I highly recommend a listen.

@ramit It's not new but this cartoon really makes you think about how much space we dedicate to automobiles.

We need to dedicate less space to cars in cities and reinvent them. In the future, I believe people will have 2 cars: one tiny car for city errands (or simply an electric scooter or bike) and one larger car for moving between cities.

Mercenaries work for money. Missionaries build for others. Artists create for themselves.

Which one are you?

Mercenaries = Sales

Missionaries = Operations

Artists = Product

#PRODUCT

StableDiffusion

If you couldn't guess, the image above is "Jaba the Trump"

StableDiffusion is the open source version of OpenAI's DALLE. While I find DALLE better than most StableDiffusion product's, this will create a healthy competition and enable it to be cheap (or free!) and create amazing illustrations. There are a lot of free products out there using StableDiffusion that you can play with.

Text-to-image will be a skill of the future. People who are adept at communicating with the AI will be able to create more amazing photos than your average human. Just check out /r/StableDiffusion, and you'll see what I mean.

#IDEA

Creatine Water

There are already pills and powder, but people often forget to take them and they don’t always drink enough water. Even when they do, they aren’t getting the best quality water. Here's the solution--we make creatine water with high pH water to fill all of your healthy needs. We have variations with collagen, vitamins, and other sports energy.

There are obvious issues with this plan, such as shipping costs and the need for distribution. Another idea is to simply be better at marketing and create a powdered formula that contains creatine and other supplements.
